My Why
One of the most important drivers and motivations in my life is to travel. I have worked hard to explore and enjoy the world and in my 48 years, I have been to a third of the countries on the planet. My wonderful son, now has the Wanderlust bug himself, and we journeyed around the World together when he was only 13. One of our favourite moments is below, on top of a snowy mountain in New Zealand.
I have loads still to visit and am looking forward to continuing my journey… How about you?
Background
There exists within each of us a primal desire, an insatiable urge to explore, discover, and immerse ourselves in the beauty of the world. This powerful force is known as travel lust, a magnetic pull that draws us to distant lands, cultures, and experiences. In this blog, we’ll delve into the captivating world of travel lust, exploring its origins, the emotions it evokes, and the transformative power it holds.
The Call of the Unknown
At its core, travel lust is a magnetic force that transcends the mundane and propels us towards the unknown. It whispers tales of uncharted territories, cultural richness, and breath-taking landscapes, sparking a yearning within us to go beyond the familiar and embrace the unfamiliar. The call of the unknown is a melody that resonates in the hearts of adventurers, igniting the flames of wanderlust that refuse to be extinguished.
Escape from Routine
In the hustle and bustle of everyday life, routine can become stifling. Travel lust serves as the antidote, offering an escape from the monotony of daily existence. The prospect of stepping into a new environment, tasting exotic flavours, and meeting people with diverse perspectives, awakens our senses and rejuvenates our spirits. It is a break from the ordinary, an opportunity to hit the reset button and savour the richness that life has to offer. One of my favourite trips was a solo visit to Hong Kong, my first trip away on my own. I loved it for different reasons than normal, it felt brave, adventurous and was brilliant fun. This was one of my favourite photos, late a night, wandering around the Harbour – feeling at peace and perfectly safe.
Transformative Power
Beyond its immediate pleasures, travel lust has the power to transform us. The encounters with unfamiliar landscapes, languages, and people, broaden our perspectives, fostering personal growth and self-discovery. Stepping outside our comfort zones and navigating the uncharted territories of the world challenges preconceived notions, leaving us with a newfound appreciation for the diversity of our planet.
I enjoying snapping photos which embody the impression I have from the place I am visiting. This was one of my favourite photos of all my travels. This was in India, a place full of colour, smells, smiles and wonder. Such kind, amazing people who welcome you with open arms.
I believe that travel lust is a force that beckons us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace the world with open arms. It is a journey of self-discovery, cultural immersion, and emotional enrichment. So, the next time the wanderlust whispers in your ear, heed its call, pack your bags, and embark on an adventure that will leave an indelible mark on your soul. After all, life is a grand expedition, and travel lust is the compass that guides us to the extraordinary.
